Casa Barral is an old fishing equipment shop located in Passeig Marítim, where the poet and editor Carlos Barral lived. It’s one of the few examples of architecture showcasing Calafell’s maritime history which still remains
The wooden balcony from the Canary Islands that Barral loved ever since he was a child stands out (‘Calafell was the myth of a happy childhood’, he said). There were many writers who visited or settled down in Calafell in the second half of the 20th century. These included Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa and Juan Marsé.
Now, with a new museum design, the visit to the different rooms of the house will show you different sides of this personality: Barral the writer, Barral the editor, and lastly, the private side of Barral.
